Build with purpose.
Technology should solve real problems and create lasting value.
Ibacus creates software that helps people better understand themselves, their decisions, and the world around them.
Some products are practical tools. Others explore emerging ideas. Every Ibacus project is guided by the same philosophy: thoughtful design, purposeful technology, and a belief that software should clarify rather than complicate.
The name Ibacus is inspired by the abacus—one of humanity’s earliest tools for computation and understanding. Long before modern computers, the abacus helped people organize information, reason through problems, and make better decisions. We see Ibacus as a modern continuation of that idea.
Technology changes quickly.
The need to understand does not.
Principles
Technology should solve real problems and create lasting value.
Every product is an opportunity to explore, learn, and improve.
Great software helps people think more clearly.
Trust is earned by collecting only what is truly necessary.
The best solutions are often the ones that feel effortless.
Create products that remain useful long after they’re first released.
The products will continue to evolve.
The philosophy behind them will not.
Our Story
The ideas behind Ibacus have been evolving for decades through a continuous practice of building, learning, and exploring new technologies.
Founded by Matt Olech, Ibacus reflects a career spent creating software, leading technology initiatives, and exploring new ideas through independent projects. From personal websites in the late 1990s to GreenProgress in 2005 and iFootprint a few years later, each project became an opportunity to experiment, refine ideas, and create something useful.
Today, Ibacus serves as an independent product laboratory where those experiences come together to become thoughtfully designed software. Every product is another opportunity to explore an idea, solve a meaningful problem, and continue learning through the process of building.
